But whether you’re driving a vehicle from China or a car from another country, our instruction to our people is not to plug MoD technology into their car, to avoid having discussions at a secret level in any vehicle, because of the increasing threats of surveillance that exist in every single vehicle, to only have those confidential talks in protected areas. This is a prudent and reasonable thing for anyone concerned about safety.

When it was suggested that it would be wise for the ministry to stop using every cars from China, the minister responded: ‘That’s exactly what we are looking into at the moment.”
